Every person has the legal right to express his or her desire to be considered for organ or tissue donation upon death. This can be done by signing a donor card.

As an organ and tissue donor, a person can choose to donate his or her heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, pancreas, eyes, bones, and tissue for transplantation or medical research.

Anyone can indicate his or her wish to be an organ or tissue donor regardless of age or medical history. Recent medical advances in organ and tissue transplantation have made it possible to consider more patients as potential donors.
