1 box yellow cake mix

8 oz. cream cheese, softened

1/4 c. butter, softened (1/2 of one stick)

Powdered sugar

In large microwave-safe bowl microwave the butter and cream cheese until very soft.  Stir in the cake mix.  Roll into balls and put on greased baking sheet.  Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes.  Sprinkle warm cookies with powdered sugar.  Store in refrigerator.

Yield:  Approximately 3 dozen.  Size of cookies will vary yield.

Ideas:

Use good quality products.  Some cream cheese and butter substitutes have a higher water content.

Allow cream cheese and butter to soften at room temperature.  Dough can be very sticky and difficult to work with if over heated.

Use a flavored cake mix i.e., lemon, orange, spice, chocolate, red velvet.

Use a glaze instead of powdered sugar after baking.

Have fun and role in colored sugar, sprinkles, nuts, coconut, candy chips, corn flakes cereal before you bake.
