1 box yellow cake mix
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
1/4 c. butter, softened (1/2 of one stick)
Powdered sugar
In large microwave-safe bowl microwave the butter and cream cheese until very soft. Stir in the cake mix. Roll into balls and put on greased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Sprinkle warm cookies with powdered sugar. Store in refrigerator.
Yield: Approximately 3 dozen. Size of cookies will vary yield.
Ideas:
Use good quality products. Some cream cheese and butter substitutes have a higher water content.
Allow cream cheese and butter to soften at room temperature. Dough can be very sticky and difficult to work with if over heated.
Use a flavored cake mix i.e., lemon, orange, spice, chocolate, red velvet.
Use a glaze instead of powdered sugar after baking.
Have fun and role in colored sugar, sprinkles, nuts, coconut, candy chips, corn flakes cereal before you bake.
