Ingredients…
- 1 lb. Spaetzle
- 1 lb. grated Gruyere
- 2 large onions, diced
- 4 tablespoons butter
Saute onions in butter until slightly caramelized. Cook the Spatzle in 4 quarts of boiling water. Add 3 tablespoons of salt and cook for 12 minutes. Drain well and add a little butter to the Spatzle.
Butter a large baking dish. Place the Spatzle in the dish, layer with the caramelized onions, and then the cheese. Repeat the layering ending with the cheese. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes.
