SAN ANTONIO - Another year has gone by so quickly and the New Year brings resolutions of organizing, dieting, and working out.  Determined as I am to complete all of these resolutions, organizing has to come first before I can fully concentrate on the other two of my resolutions.
While searching through the craft stores, container stores, and even Bed Bath & Beyond looking for a solution, I came across an item that I thought I could possibly use for all three of my resolutions.

The first of them of course is organization, one of the hardest times of my day is when I get home from work and the kiddo and husband are saying, “I’m hungry, what’s for dinner, and what can I eat before dinner is done”…  Well, this great idea has solved that stressful time of my day.  I have organized each day with a drink and 3 different snack choices.   I actually took it a step further to help with another stressful time of my day.  In the morning when my son is asking for lunch money, notes for school or even a snack to take to school, he can go to the organizer that is hanging inside the pantry door and grab what is there for that day.

All you need is a plastic shoe organizer that you can get at Bed Bath & Beyond, labels that you can make with a label maker or on your computer and some clear tape.   The shoe organizer was the perfect size to place items in a slot for every day of the week but Sunday.  At the top of the shoe organizer were two separate slots to label “Lunch Money” and “School Notes”.

I took a separate shoe organizer and made it into a recipe holder for the month.  You can place up to 24 days of recipes with pictures so that everyone knows what is for dinner each day.  A great way to utilize this to help me with resolution #2 is that I can keep track of the calories that are in each meal.  You can even take it a step further and place a note in each slot of what exercise you are suppose to do that day.

The final organizational craft that I made was a simple solution for all the paperwork that lingers on the dining room table.  Three baskets, one for bills, one for junk mail or “I’ll read this later” mail, and one for receipts -- you can certainly label your baskets for what you need.  I added a little decorative touch with some cute trim that I purchased at the craft store.

As always, Just remember to get creative and have fun, it’s a lot easier to accomplish your resolutions if you make them fun.
