SAN ANTONIO - It is certainly starting to feel like fall outside, so why not spice up your home decor with pumpkins and gourds? The craft expert, Linda De La Garza, stopped by and showed us many cute ways to not only decorate pumpkins, but how to use them as serving dishes too! Especially with how expensive decorations can be during the holiday season, why not save some money by crafting at home?
Linda's first idea was stacking pumpkins on top of each other, painting them, and adding greenery - a great addition to your front porch to welcome guests.
Another idea, perfect for the kids, is decorating gourds and pumpkins with googly eyes, stickers, felt and colorful paint. Let their imagination run wild - they might even make an Angry Bird like Linda's!
If you're looking for some ideas for party gifts or serving dishes, Linda's got you covered. How about trying to make a pumpkin "scarecrow cake." This delicious treat can be created with candies for the eyes and nose, Twizzlers for the hair, and waffle cones for the hat. So easy and fun to make! Other types of squash and pumpkins can be hollowed out and used as serving dishes. Linda filled her Cinderella pumpkin with Chex Mix - a party favorite!
