Many people facing rising food costs are considering coupons as a way to save money on their grocery bills including myself who uses smart source or Printapons websites to get daily alerts.

You forgot The Smoke House at Rigsby and Roland here in town. As good or better than any mentioned in your article and a lot less Expensive Gasoline.

Kreuz by far stands above thr rest. No one makes sausage like them. Was not impressed with Taylor. They have limited menu during the week and the barbeque was okay, not worth the drive from san antonio. To garza1 and boberebop, to bad your so close minded about kruez, you dont know what your missing. You would probably also complain about the long lines of people.

There are 3 other very good B-que places in Lochart,Black's,Smittys and probaly the best Chishom Trail. You cannot go wrong in Lochart but the locals tend to visit Chisholm Trail the most, I have seen lots of farmers and regular folk their on a Sunday.

I was raised on this sausage (I'm 50) as my grandmother lived between Lockhart & Luling. The part they forgot to include is that this is not the original building as there was a family falling out as is often the case due to a death in the family. The old location is now called Smitty's but Kreuz is still by far the best. (although in the old days there was only meat, bread & chunks of cheese-no sides like now) I kinda miss the old days!

This story almost had me headed to Lockhart to check out this BBQ place until they got to the part about they don't even have a BBQ sauce. I'm glad you saved me a trip because I would have walked out. I hate it when somebody tells me they're food is so good that I can't have any condiments. It's like a fish place with no catsup or a mexican food place with no hot sauce. The owner said he likes to eat Italian on his day off. I wonder how he would like it if they told him they didn't serve parmesan cheese because they're food is so good that it doesn't need it. Too bad this is not a full service BBQ joint.
