SAN ANTONIO – It’s sad that vacation is coming to an end, but there’s a great way to capture those summer memories. Linda de La Garza with Better Homes and Daughters stopped by the SA Show to share fun crafting ideas to help save the memories.
Click here to watch…Here are some great crafts as we close out the summer and say hello to a new school year!
1) Freeze Frame - You had an awesome summer! How do you capture your favorite summer memory? You frame it. Here's how: Take some fun, cool things you collected over the summer, or on vacation, that represent your favorite moment. For example, if you went to the beach, use the shells you gathered and glue them around a frame. Place a photo of you and your family in the middle to enjoy through the year.
Other examples are: Rocks from a hike, Disney souvenirs, maybe you learned to go horseback riding, flew on a plane for the first time, etc. Have fun collecting, gluing & freeze framing!
2) Soap Surprise - It pays to take a bath, literally! We have made our own soap. The difference is, we have place a quarter right in the middle of the bar. That means the more you take a bath, the closer you are to the money. The bath that makes cents! The kids will love bath time. It's a great way to get them back into a routine for the school year. You don't have to use coins. You can also hide toys, such as small cars, for a surprise in the middle. This is better and more fun than soap on a rope! Have fun.
3) Chalk -it-up! - Make your own chalkboard by using chalkboard paint. All you need is some wood (different shapes) or canvas. Give it about 3-4 coats. Embellish the top with some fun themed figurines or shapes to customize it.
This is a great way to write messages for your family. Whether it's for "dinner time"," don't forget homework", or just "love you have a great day at school". This makes a great message board for the family. Write each other notes through out the week. Enjoy!
