After my daughter, Nicole, left for college and my husband was out-of-town on business a great deal, I was faced with a lot of free hours. I’ve always enjoyed making delicious cakes, cookies, and cupcakes for my family, friends, relatives, neighbors, and church; so I decided this would be my new adventure. Family and friends offered their support and encouragement during my quest for the perfect cake and frosting recipes that would WOW everyone. I concentrated first on birthday and special-occasion cakes and eventually word got around on how good my cakes and artistic decorating are. I eventually started taking orders for wedding cakes, and from there on my business took off! I was amazed to realize that my free time was no longer an issue.
I’ve been asked is this a family run business? Meaning does your daughter play a role in the business? No, she does not, but my mother and sister do, and there are times I draft family members to help.
I have been at my location for four and a half years. It was the best decision I made. It’s an excellent location, easy to get to, plenty of parking, and my business has grown tenfold. When people ask where I am located, and after giving them directions, I tell them I am three doors down from the Blanco Café. EVERYONE knows where the Blanco Café is!
I enjoy meeting with clients and their family members. I listen to their needs and promise to make their cake dreams come true. They know they have one less worry and the result will be spectacular. Everyone enjoys having a hand in designing the cake.
Delivering cakes sometimes can be stressful. Time is of the utmost importance. Depending on the number of cakes or tiers, it must be assembled at the place of the event and on time. Problems can occur occasionally, but are taken care of immediately. After all cakes are delivered, it makes me happy to know my cakes will be enjoyed.
I am a member of NACE (National Association Caterers executives) and Frosting Creators Cake Club, a local cake club here in San Antonio. I am continuously learning new ways to keep up-to-date with the latest trends and decorating techniques. My twelve years of experience and artistic expertise will make any special day a memorable one.
