SAN ANTONIO - A second person charged in a Ponzi scheme is heading to prison for stealing from an ex-NFL player T.J. Slaughter and other investors.

News 4 WOAI Trouble Shooters uncovered the scam 2 years ago.

A judge on Tuesday sentenced Mary Alice Monteza to ten years in prison. She claimes she is still trying to repay the stolen $850,000.

Monteza and Alan Nelson pleaded no contest to theft charges related to the fake international investing scam.

Probation would have been an option if the pair repaid the money, but it was never done. Nelson was sentenced to seven years earlier this month.

Slaughter once played for Jacksonville, Green Bay, and New Orleans. He said he lost about $150,000.

" Slaugher, once played for Jacksonville, Green Bay, and New Orleans."...C'mon WOAI! Misspelled the name & a comma between Slaughter and once? SMH!

Glad these con artists got what they deserve but, seriously, the NFL player also got his for being greedy. He was told he'd get a 100% return on his $150k investment? Wall Street can't do that and to think you'd get that..hardly.

And again WOAI's staff can't spell--"repayed"??? Correct spelling is "repaid". I thought online dictionaries were supposed to make this "fool"-proof. Guess it will always shine through.

From the looks of this PORKY I can tell where the money was spent! Hope she never gets out of prison maybe then she can loose 150 pounds and she will have remorse for her actions! But once a criminal always a crminal. Hope she !rotts! in jail.
