Towing companies begin charging new, higher fee

what part of ILLEGALLY PARKED don't anyone understand? You won't get towed if you don't illegally park. And everyone's barking about the Private Property tow rates but seems to be okay with the City charging $120 while forcing the tow co's to charge $88. You cannot run a PP tow company at the proposed rate. Seems like in S.A. the violators get all the rights.

If the city council even tried to fulfill its duties, a study would be done to identify the areas where most towing activity concentrates, then a plan to build/create/free as many parking spaces as necessary. But for that to happen the city council must be a really competent body of trustees, engaged in serving the common citizen, the regular San Antonian, instead of only kissing-up to the big business and the rich folk. What a disgrace.

Its a private property tow. That means if you're an idiot and park on someones property you get towed. If you think its too much for a regular tow then push your vehicle. Nobody is making you get your car towed.

What a racket. Legalized theft.

$220 is less than the ripp off $250-$300 they were illegally charging before. You can complain against a tow company online at the TDLR website. This forces the inspectors to investigate a tow companies activities. Be sure to also look up the tow company by name or TDLR# to ensure they have a current lisence(private property tow license), insured, tow operator has license and they have a lisence to have a vehicle storage facility(VSF). That's 3 lisences to operate legally. Also your tow receipt must list the TDLR#, operator lisence # and charges must match what they have displayed at their impound yard. These are requirements set by TDLR. Any discrepancies is grounds for TDLR complaint and going to court.

Just don't get towed in Texas!
