SAN ANTONIO - The News 4 WOAI Kitchen Cops went through this week's inspection reports at the health department. We want to make sure the restaurants you patronize are clean.
Worst Score of the Week: Taqueria Los Potrillos
The health department gave Taqueria Los Potrillos a poor score of 33 demerits. An employee told us off-camera the inspector picked on a lot of little things that, he claims, added up to that low score.
Taqueria Los Potrillos can be found near Nogalitos and Sonora Streets.
The health inspector docked the restaurant for employees eating while they were making the food. He also saw food not stored or labeled correctly and utensils and plates weren't cleaned the right way.
Agustine Angel, an employee of Taqueria Los Potrillos, didn't want to talk on camera, but he allowed us inside the restaurant; just not in the kitchen.
Angel tells us they are working on the problems and the inspector will be back to check on them next week.
Blue Plate Winner: Syn Sushi
Syn Sushi off Huebner and Vance Jackson takes home the Blue Plate prize this week.
"Just follow the regulations. That's very simple," restaurant owner Joseph Schmuck told us. "There's rules out there; so you got to follow the rules. It's very simple."
Syn Sushi has been inspected four times in the last year. Each time they've received zero demerits. A perfect score in our book and in the health department's.
