SAN ANTONIO -- Some big problems led to a poor health inspection score for a West Side restaurant.

La Cocina on West Commerce near Old Highway 90 earned 41 demerits on its latest inspection. Anything higher than 30 demerits is considered a poor score.

The restaurant was cited for roaches, dirty equipment, and food in the refrigerator that was not properly labeled. Workers did not want to talk to the News 4 WOAI Trouble Shooters Kitchen Cops about the issues. But the city's inspector told them to take care of the roach problem immediately.

Blue Plate Award

This week's Blue Plate Award goes to Moe's Southwest Grill on Stone Oak Parkway.

The owner, Rob Baumberger, said he works hard to keep his restaurant clean, and that keeps his customers coming back.

"We want people to enjoy the experience and be a part of what Moe's is all about," explained Baumberger. "It's fun, good food, and having a good time."

Congratulations to Moe's on earning a perfect score on its latest health inspection.

I'm getting tired of this story. Is there a Chinese restaurant they can inspect?

feesta and dkween, extreme racist remarks and with no sense. Well here you go, at least the mexican food cooks are not married to their sisters and their brothers while sleeping with their dads like most of you knuckle headed racists. I could have been your father but the line was toooo big. adios and hasta la vista, baby.

How is this news? News would be something like: "Clean Mexican restaurant found with name La cocina de Guadalajara, Jalisco." That's news!!! :)

Haha. What more is expected though? Seriously? This city is slowly turning into Mexico. =( I thought they come here to make better lives? Why not mimic the success of Americans then? Instead of coming here to change, they just come and keep the old habits. That is not making a better life for themselves. It is merely keeping the same lifestyle and ruining ours. The ghetto of North America is seeeeeeeeeeeeping in. Ohhhhhhhhhhhh Noooooooooooz.

Now you know where the term ROACH COACH came from. Why does the city not close them down period, all they are doing is making people ill and who knows what else. The very reason I stopped d eating in fast food rest. period along time ago. When was the last time you saw a super clean McDonalds? They almost all suck. Disgusting...dlt

Looks like dirt and roaches is synonymous with Mexican restaurants. But the city will not clsoe them down.

dkween - 3/6/2010 6:05 AM
