San Antonio --  They were once a Blue Plate winner. But now, a local sushi restaurant is having to explain what they're doing fix rat and roach problems.

Goro's Sushi off Vance Jackson near Loop 410 was served 25 demerits on its latest health inspection. 30 is considered a poor score by the health department. But rats and roaches are a big problem. And News 4 WOAI’s Mireya Villarreal wanted to make sure employees are working to clean things up.

Goro's owner, Mike Luna, did not want to be on camera. Trouble Shooter Mireya Villarreal tried to ask about the restaurant's inspection report. But all the owner would say is, it wasn't a good time and our crew needed to leave.

Goro's later sent News 4 WOAI a statement saying they immediately called their pest control company and thoroughly cleaned the restaurant once they were notified of the problems.

An inspector recently followed up with the restaurant. While the report noted improvements, it also asked management to keep monitoring their rodent activity.

Blue Plate Award

San Antonio --  It's a "thumbs up" for BJ's Brewhouse on the far northwest side. They're this week's Blue Plate Award winner! The restaurant off Loop 1604 and Culebra didn't pick up a single demerit on its latest health inspection.

Mike Langford, Director of Operations, shared his secret to success with us.

"It takes attention to detail and being fanatical about serving safe food," he said. "Thank you very much. We're very happy to receive this."

Congratulations to BJ's Brewhouse!

Just to let you guys know, sushi isn't raw fish, it is vinegared rice. Sashimi is thinly sliced raw fish. Any more misconceptions?

Beware, Chin. Real American like the scratch. Master Wu bred with American woman named Julia and formed son of a biotch named Itchy Chang. Itchy has an obsession with spiders, particularly of the black widow kind that infest teddy bears outside, in the garage. For this reason Itchy's father paints insecticide on his arms before he goes to work in the evening, on the night shift. In the factory of the bombs, they call him the salivation master of graves.
