SAN ANTONIO - Every week the News 4 WOAI Kitchen Cops check out the latest health inspection reports to let you know which restaurants are keeping it clean.
This week a Mexican restaurant on the northeast side is told to clean things up. Los Pino's Mexican Restaurant can be found off I-35 North and Shipman Drive, across the highway from Splashtown.
The eatery was served 42 demerits on its latest health inspection. Anything more than 30 is considered a poor score.
According to the health inspector there was food lying around that wasn't fit eat. He also wanted hand sanitizer put up around the kitchen and asked that a licensed plumber make some big repairs.
"We did all the repairs; everything they asked for us to do," restaurant manager, Monica Cavazos, told us.
Cavazos even showed us the inspection report left by the health department. Everything highlighted had been fixed. Now they're just waiting to get re-inspected.
Blue Plate Award
Pat's Bar-B-Que off East Houston and Olive Street is this week's Blue Plate winner. They didn't have a single demerit on their last inspection. Owner Pat McKinley says he owes it all to the dedication and hard work of his partners and employees.
"Hey - Pick that up. Wipe that down. Sweep that up - you never know when the health department is going to come by,” Pat told us. “People don't like a nasty kitchen. First impression is the best impression!"
Congratulations to Pat's B-B-Q!
