I'm shocked that this is happening. I took my 6 yr old daughter to the smile center off blanco and 410 and she had some work done there over a few visits in December and January. On the one visit where she had most of the work done I was saddened by seeing my daughter strapped in this board thing they use while she's screaming and yelling and moving around while they're doing the work on her. I also remember hearing kids scream while there. These pple get Alot of business and they don't seem to be doing the work correctly. I'm never taking my daughter there again. I hope the smile center chain gets what they deserve.

Listen LEVELHEADED RN, it is a scam I took my son there last month. I had not heard of what is going on. Well, the Smile Center told me my son had 6 cavities and needed treatment. I was shocked I have NEVER had a cavity nor my 13 year old. I went to get a second opinion, and glad I did. My son has no cavities, only needed a cleaning. WOW!! The new dentist staff informed me about the investigation. I also reported it. I also heard lots of screams and saw a lot of sadated kids there.

britturt, thank you for the information. You're right it is the same scam, just a different name. They know exactly what they're doing, just moving from state to state, changing names. It's all a money making scam! And its all about business investors! Money, money, money and only money.

I had a similar experience with South Texas dental and Kool Smiles who both wanted do excessive amounts of work which they couldn't explain and wanted to do these procedures over 4-5 visits. Luckily, we found Dr. Watkins with A Bright Smile for Kids (on Zarazamora)who refuses to use those ugly silver caps. It took only two sessions and the entire staff including Dr. Watkins were amazingly friendly and effecient and my daughter was so at ease with them. I was totally impressed with the quality of the work they did! Please stay away from these other places, your kids are too precious to be wasting your time elsewhere!

The 20/20 case was in N. carolina and the company was called Small Smiles and they settled in late 2010 for 24 Million.

This is the same dental company that was featured on 20/20 or one of those shows a year or two ago. I don't remember which state the complaints were from but it was a huge case and news story. They were also targeting medicaid patients. In fact the story here in San Antonio is a carbon copy of those cases.

I never knew this was going on, I took my daughter to the smile center on Blanco and loop 410 and they put caps on her teeth which fell off the next week.. I called and complained to the office and they told me to bring her in and they would fix the problem. they put a new cap on and this time I noticed that they used an excessive amout of glue, that now covers her tooth and looks very ugly. She started complaining that the cap was again loose and I am fed up with the horrible service this company is giving. I will never take her back there again.

mindi, mindi, mindi how much more do you need to hear? Missing the point? Please listen, yes caps fell off, yes lots of bacteria, and not because of children not brushing their teeth. So simple, because of the negligence of the dentist. Oh, and levelheadedRN, I suppose, you need to have WRITTEN MEDICAL DOCUMENTATION, from these children's physicians treating the infections, because it can be provided, since watching this child's face is not enough for levelheaded people as yourself. NO LOTTERY NEEDED HERE, just honest reputable dentist! Never too late to come forward. Not in these situations.
