the easiest way not to have property or money stolen from the jail is to not be in there

There is more to this story, no one cares about inmates before they go to court or afterwards...you know I am not taking about family or love ones. The letter given to the inmate says someone has to call within 5 days. What about those inmates that have no one? If you do call you get the run around. I went to the bexar jail to claim the money owed and the belongings, from the mens they send me to the women's to collect the items. I waited 1 hour, I was the only one there waiting because the person attending to the items waits for more than 1 person before they bring the items down. Yet, money owed was not given to me, I called the phone # given to me on the letter, at the women's facility, you leave messages...no one returns the calls. I had to finally sit down write and copy 1 letter to the majority of the bexar sheriff administration MEMBER and email them. I went under Bexar Sheriff Administration to get the email addresses. This is the letter: My son order his commissary under sid ###### about $7.50; what date is unknown since I have not been able to speak to him, but received a letter dated oct ##th. He was sent to Garza West, I received the letter dated Oct ##, 2011, I went by the Bexar jail to claim the $7.50 owed to inmate name. I was also there to claim property, clothing, letters, pics, wallet, key chain, but no one gave me his $7.50! That same day they told me to claim the money I had to call commissary 210-335-6484 or the Supervisor at 210-335-5074. I called both numbers and let a message from bexar county office, as I stood in front of the male jail and the female jail...no one ever answered both lines. I have ever since called everyday and left messages...no one has called me MY NAME at 210-###-#### to resolve the issue of the $7.50. Please tell me who else do I contact? You can send the money to: MY NAME PO Box ##### SA TX 78### Since I am the one that deposited the money into the commissary account to start. I GOT RESULTS!!!!!!

My husband's property was lost Jan/Feb 2009..........and I am sure he is not the ONLY person as listed in that report! So there you go...THE REPORT HAS FALSE AND MISLEADING INFORMATION BECAUSE COUNTY OFFICERS DON'T CARE ABOUT COMPLAINTS. THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT THEMSELVES. If you want to know how County really is, ask the families of the inmates how they are treated. We are treated just as bad sometimes coming to see friends and loved ones. TDCJ is just as bad too. I almost came across a desk at a CO for making a comment that "I got "knocked up" right before my husband came to prison." Those were the exact words of that stupid CO and yes, she glared and all when I got the Warden involved and she was reprimanded right in front of me! So...what else you gotta say????????

This is definitely not surprising. In Jan-Feb 2009, my husband had property there including his wallet, clothes, and a fresh new pair of Jordan shoes. When I called to find out when to pick up his property, the officer I spoke to in the inmate property dept advised me to pick up his property by a date in early Feb (exact date I don't remember)and my husband had put in a request to find out the same information and was told the same date. So when I went down there, tell me why in the hell did they DONATE his clothes and wallet two weeks prior to that date??????????? I had the name, badge number and everything of the officer who told me to pick up his property and all they told me was --- oh sorry, you were told the wrong information. I went off! I wasted my time and money in gas to come down there and take care of it only for those dumbasses to take his stuff and run. I wouldn't be surprised if the officers took his stuff because he was wearing some pretty pricy clothing he just got for Xmas! Down at county they are all crooked so it doesn't surprise me they are being audited. Not only did this happen to my husband, but it has happened to a few other people I know too. PLEASE GET SOMEONE ELSE TO RUN THE JAIL OTHER THAN THOSE DUM DUMS THAT ARE THERE NOW! It's so bad that I am getting my Bachelor's degree in Crime Scene Investigation in just a couple months, but I refuse to work for Bexar County or SAPD because they are all crooked from the bottom up. We already got rid of one sheriff (Ralph Lopez) because he was a crook, so I think we need to get rid of another (Ortiz) at this point. How are you not going to know where the $109, 000 has gone? Or swindling money....come on really?????????? Idiots!

BexarD;....Look up case # 2009-081395 that was closed out with no action, callback, investigation, etc. Ask Ortiz, Bennett, Layman why they covered up massive subornation of perjury and aggravated perjury committed inside the Bexar County Courthouse to defraud our courts/citizens and hide three decades of theft and fraud by City employees. Did anyone here talking smack about the Sheriff's Office actually read the auditors report linked above? No? Shocking. A single person had their property lost or stolen since 2008 to the tune of about $400. Considering the volume of inmates the jail deals with on a daily/yearly basis, this is pretty damn good. No money is missing. Its sitting in the same account its been in for 5 years. This is just Commissioners Court and their typical garbage of pointing fingers. The Auditors report actually finds more fault with them than with the Sheriff's Office but you already knew that since you read the report, right? The real question should be why the media is focusing on a non-story of the banking issue and not the story of why Commissioners are cutting 128 Detention positions to "save money" but are going to be signing the checks to pay various counties to house our inmates. Zavala County, for instance, is making $4,500 a DAY from you the Bexar County taxpayer. Thats over $1.6 MILLION a year. WOAI should ask where the savings is in this brilliant idea.
