Homeowners in the Longs Creek subdivision now have enough votes to kick their entire homeowner's association board out of office.
The News 4 WOAI Trouble Shooters first uncovered misspending by the board during an investigation into the HOA's financial records.
The votes poured in after many of the 1300 residents watched our recent investigation showing exactly how their HOA dues were misspent.
"They (the HOA management company) indicated we needed 671 proxies. We have 736 here now", said angry homeowner Peggy Sue Wilson as she held the huge stack of proxies in her arms.
But the residents who sit on the board appear to be fighting to hold on to their power.
"We've met the minimum and we've exceeded that. We're just uncertain what's going to happen", said Peggy.
She is uncertain because board members Lynn Starkey, Rick Pursley and Cheryl Napierala have now called their own special meeting.
They sent out a notice saying they want to add two additional new board members even though they know homeowners no longer want them in office and have the votes to kick them out.
The attorney for the homeowners says the special meeting is just an attempt at self preservation by the board.
"It makes no sense, it causes confussion and I don't know why they don't just go quietly into the night", said Attorney Peter Kilpatrick.
We asked the HOA lawyer what was behind their unusual move but got no response?
Meanwhile, the homeowners have called for their own special meeting to submit the votes and throw the current board members out of office.
We'll be there and let you know what happens.
