SAN ANTONIO -- Every week, we track the crimes happening in your neighborhoods.  We're looking into the number of homes being broken into around the city -- and where it's happening the most.

The number of homes being broken into around the city is up a bit so far this year compared to the numbers by this time last year.  Police say it's happening all over the city.  Even Terrell Hills, one of the safest areas of town, was recently hit with a rash of burglaries.

According to the latest statistics by the San Antonio Police Department there have been more than 5,100 homes burglarized so far this year compared to nearly 5,000 by this time last year.

Where in the city are they happening the most?  Police say the West Side.  Burglars have hit more than 1,400 homes on that side of town alone so far this year, compared to more than 1,200 by this time last year.

The good news, at least in Terrell Hills, police managed to nab five young burglars -- between the ages of 17 and 19 -- they say are responsible for breaking into so many homes there.

The other area of town where police say burglars hit often is the Northwest Side.  Detectives say more than a thousand homes have been burglarized there so far this year.
