This actually comes out to less than 22400.00 per vehicle. depending on how long the vehicles are in service there is a tremendous savings. The detectives for the police department drive hybrids as well as some of the code compliance people. The savings in fuel as well as the value of the vehicles once they are sold will pay for themselves. You get twice the mileage you get in a regular vehicle, plus the resale value. This appears to be a win for the city for once, which will offset the Christmas tree light boondoggle.

No to mention renaming Durango. I looked at hybrids once, both the toyota suv and the Ford Escape - both time I was told the fuel savings goes out the window (pardon the expression) when you have to run the AC.
