SAN ANTONIO -- The investigation continues into Monday’s gas line explosion at Huebner and NW Military. A work crew sparked the fire when it hit a gas line.

News 4 WOAI trouble shooter Brian Collister has been investigating the company doing the work and dug up some details we think you'll find interesting.

Turns out it was not the first time the company has had problems. A day after the spectacular explosion and fire, Dean Word Construction, the company that cut the gas line, is taking some heat.

News 4 WOAI has uncovered that Dean Word Construction out of New Braunfels has been hit with at least two lawsuits since 2007 for cutting cables during construction. And according to the Website of the Occupational Health and Safety Administration, OSHA fined the company $1500 in 2006 for what it calls a “serious violation.” No specific details of the violation were available.

TxDOT says it is still doing its investigation into what happened and it hopes to have a final report in a few days.

We tried to reach someone with Dean Word Construction, but had not received a call back as of Tuesday evening.

The worker who was hurt in the accident was a 49-year-old man from Schertz, but his name hasn’t been released. He had third-degree burns and was taken to BAMC in critical condition.
