What are you telling? "Garage doors can be easy entryway for thieves" I don't believe this, thieves can entire from not only garage door but also from main door.

SA957... They perps don't use the window. They just 'push in' the door at the top a bit, then stick the wire inside, over the door, and catch the opener's carriage latch or pull cord, which, is nearly up against the door when it's closed.

I cut the handles off of mine today. Good info. If going on vacation lock the garage doors from the inside then unplug the opener's ac power so you don't come home and forget its locked and hit the remote to open.

If they can fit in a window that is 8X11 more power to them. Even if they broke the window and tries to hook it they better have a very long hanger (besides, never put the ball on the end of the cord anyway). IF they get in the garage they can deal with my three 60lb dogs and my alarm going off! Besides I'm usually home all day and then they can deal with my 9mm AND the dogs.

I wonder how easy this would be if there's no window in the garage door to be help someone see to hook the stiff wire onto the release knob? Anyway, my garage doesn't have a door leading into the house. I'll remove the knob from the cord, just to play it safe. The zip-tie thing won't work on my opener, no place to loop it through or tie it around without interfering with the operation o the opener.

A squirrel got in my garage a few days ago and hung out for a couple of days before I spotted him and opened the garage door so he could run out. If a squirrel can get in without being noticed for two days, any stinking pen de jo, skinhead, or new orleans reject could probably figure it out.

I can't see the presentation but if I have lots of friends that don't lock their door from the garage to the house. I always lock it. It would be a clue to be careful going in if the door were unlocked. That door is also on the house alarm so if someone opens it, the alarm goes off.

This has been known for many years. Since, well, they designed garage door openers in this mannor because of " safety reasons " where idiots were locking themselves in their garage's because they are too stupid to have a garage door. If you lose power to your home, you should already have a plan on how to open the garage door and if you can't handle NOT locking yourself in the garage, you shouldn't have a garage door opener.

We have a motion sensor porchlight and the garage is kind of noisy when it opens up. It's not a real quiet way to break in.
