Few seasonal flu shots left in San Antonio

The flu vaccine is especially important for small children, the sick and elderly, but it's almost impossible to find. We've been hearing from a lot of you asking us to investigate why there is such a shortage of the seasonal flu vaccine in San Antonio.

It is outrageous that PRISONERS are getting the H1N1 shot when my daughter, who has a chronic illness, cannot get it or the seasonal flu shot.

the one that is complaining that she is pregnant should just cave in and get the N1H1 flu shot..they are giving it to pregnant women now. Also, I've been pregnant before and had the regular flu--just taking care of yourself and being cautious will not make u die or loose your baby! Tylenol products work just as well as Nyquil, etc...not as fast but just as good.

Never had a flu shot and never had the flu.....Lucky I guess (knock on wood)

Well, waa waa. If you guys had had the guts to stay in the military to retire (or be a dependent) you would have the seasonal shot AND your kids would have the H1N1 - FOR FREE! I finally got tired of waiting for the shot to reappear in San Antonio and took myself to Ft Sam on one of their flu shot days. Short line, quick shot and out the door. Whew! IMKarla - It's people like you spouting trash that help fuel the paranoia. My husband didn't think he needed to get it one year and he nearly had to be hospitalized when the flu almost got to pneumonia. He hasn't missed it since, and yes, he was not in one of the "really needs it" groups. donzie - You are absolutely correct. The media needs to quit putting fuel in the paranoia by continuing to say Walgreens etc. was giving the shot. They did that for about 2 weeks before they ran out. I would have paid the $25 instead of going to Ft Sam to get it but I did end up going any way. The main point here is: when you sneeze/cough please use your elbow, stay home from work if you are sick. It's not fun to get the hand-me-downs. Wash your hands often and so on and so on. We have all heard the mantra. It works people. Just do it!

Just wait until it is government run. The line will be by Race in alphabet order.

Although Walgreens WAS formerly providing $25 flu shots, they are no longer doing this. Have called around to a number of local drug stores, including Walgreens, CVS, and HEB pharmacies. They are NO LONGER providing the flu immunizations and do not anticipate receiving more. Until this changes, medical providers need to stop informing patients that they can get their shots at the drug stores. With all the flu hype this country has had over the past many MONTHS now, this shortage is really quite ridiculous and inexcusable.

The media loves mass hysteria. They love whipping people up into a frenzy.

Let me sum up the Piggy Flu news for you: There's plenty to go around. Well, there's not as much as we thought. Everything is fine, no need to rush the offices--plenty of shots in stock. Update: Shots fall short of expectations. New shot is much better. Not enough to go around. Now there is---------you're all gonna die. Really? Enough already.

I have been telling people in our children's ER that Walgreens advertises that they will provide the flu vaccine for $25. I am not sure if people are trying the drug stores. Every time in the past 3 months I mentioned paying for it, the tone completely changed. When that happens, I always add the statement that paying for it may be an inconvenience rather than their insurance (private or subsidized) paying for it, but really the bottom line is the safety of the health of their child (which is surely worth $25 many times over)...

The reason there is a shortage of flu shots is that media hype made people paranoid. If you're not a small child, elderly, medical worker, or have medical issues (e.g., asthma), then you don't NEED the flu shot.
