Just follow the money!!! Has anyone bothered contacting the subcontractors that Summit claims just walked off the projects for their side of the story? You should find out if delayed payments to these subcontractors caused them to stop working due to the lack of cash flow to buy materials or pay employees. Some general contractors will say anything to save their reputations because lots of money is at stake (these two contracts were worth over $100 million). Desperate people take desperate measures, especially pushing it off on the sub contractors. Did the contactor pre qualify these companies before awarding them the work or just pick them based entirely on price? If they did then Summit got what they deserved. The president of Summit is just covering his backside saying he has never seen this happen before. Maybe they should of stayed in Houston so a local contractor could of built the school and had it opened on time. It wasn't that long ago when a contractor was pointing the finger at the subcontractors on a luxury downtown hotel and we all know how that turned out.
