By city standards this officer probably could be considered rich, as he was earning a hefty salary as a detective. I see many so called "poor" people who have the opportunity to eat far better than I because they get SNAP to pay their food bills. They have ample opportunity to purchase fresh nutritious food, but buy junk food. Many so called "poor" people also die at a young age due to their bad habits, one of the primary of those being alcohol and drug abuse. As far as being poor, there needs to be a distinction between poor, and being lazy. A poor person who is truely poor will not stay poor, they will find a way to better themself as well as their family. They will accomplish this on their own. A lazy person will sit at home and whine while expecting someone else to do the work. Lazy people are a disgrace. Poor people are up and coming. It warms my heart to help a poor person better their situation, while I have no qualms about watching a lazy person starve.

Heart problems are much more common than people want to acknowledge. That's sad he passed away relatively young. It shouldn't be just the rich who get to live into their 80s with good health.
