SAN ANTONIO – The Bonner buzz is back!

Spurs fans remember the controversial coif that went viral. Patrick Gonzalez, a 12-year-old redhead, got the likeness of Red Rocket Matt Bonner shaved into his head.

That haircut got him sent home from school and Patrick had to shave it off.

But when the last school bell rang, he went straight to the barber shop.

“It looks bigger,” Patrick describes the new hairdo. “Bold. It’s bigger than the other one.”

And this time, Patrick says no one can make him shave it off.

He’s still overwhelmed by the chain of events the last haircut set off.

ESPN commentators debated the Judson district’s decision to suspend Patrick over the “distracting” hairstyle.

The sixth grader won the hearts of basketball fans around the country and even got to meet his idol, fellow redhead Matt Bonner.

Patrick says this is a stressful time to be a Spurs fan.

He knows the Spurs need a big win on the road tonight and hope his haircut helps.

“I can probably just rub it whenever Bonner comes in, “ Patrick says.

He hopes it gives Bonner the boost to keep making those clutch three-pointers.
