REACT: NBA vows to sanction Spurs for resting players

Coach Pop said the decision to rest Duncan, Parker, Ginobili and Green - the core of the Spurs - was in the team's best interest. The league wasn't happy about it, and Commissioner David Stern promised that San Antonio would be penalized.

Pop has the right not to play his players and it may be good long term planning BUT I think sending them home and not having them show up and sit on the bench was wrong. People paid alot of money to see these stars. Just seeing them sit on the bench is not seeing them play but still worth the price of a ticket to some people. I go to see the Spurs of course but I also know when I decide which games to go to in a year I look at the opponnets and the decision on which games I go to is a funtion of the opponets players since the Spur players are a contant.

Coach Pop don't fight with this idiot. Just pay your fine and smile. Just pay it in pennies.

This is what millionaire Tim Duncan thinks of our local fan base. *** http://www.craveonline.com/sports/articles/199498-tim-duncans-stealthy-middle-finger ***

Whew! For a minute there I thought I was hearing that Stern was admonishing Popa for seating his big playas and not giving advertisers that paid bukku $$ a chance to see two great teams hoop it up. There was really no need to go all out against the Heat so early in the season. I mean it's a miniscule loss so it's a smart move. Hew Stern, sit down.

Pop is a four time NBA championship coach. One of the most winning coaches of all time ! I would go with his decision over that scumbag loser Stern any day.

This was a stunt pulled by Pop. You don't rest a starting five all at once. He did this to draw attention to what HE feels was a brutal road trip....yeah right. Pop is getting soft just like he calls his players. These guys make millions and Pop does also, they're all spoiled rotten. Remember the strike last year....people tend to forget the GREED involved in that strike. Rest players at certain times, NOT ALL AT ONCE!

Here's another thought on this subject: David Stern has announced that he's retiring as NBA commish after this season. Apparently he's decided that he wants to abuse his soon to be gone power while he can. Just a thought.

Hey, Stern, Pop rested his players for the same reason your wife makes you rest - you can't perform every night.
