By Kyle Boenitz, Project Spurs.comThe San Antonio Spurs’ game against the Grizzlies on Saturday was a matchup of two of the top teams in the Western Conference. I do believe in the old saying that you don’t win championships in December, but this was a big game.
Winning a hard fought battle in overtime, especially after being down by 13 going into the fourth quarter is going to give the Spurs a lot of confidence going forward.
Tony Parker led the team in scoring with 30 points, including eight in overtime and was a big part of the Spurs’ win.
Not to be outdone was the ageless wonder, Tim Duncan. Duncan finished the game with 27 points, 15 rebounds, four assists, a steal and a block. He filled up the stat sheet and showed why he’s still one of the league’s elite power forwards, capable of being the big guy the Spurs can rely on.
After the game, Coach Gregg Popovich was clearly impressed with the performance, but says it’s just the norm for Timmy D.
