SAN ANTONIO - Spurs guard Manu Ginobili has been ruled out of the season opener Wednesday night in New Orleans.

Coach Gregg Popovich told News 4 WOAI Monday afternoon, "He’s not going to travel to New Orleans and we’re going to assess him again on Thursday, He still feels his back. He tried to get on the court today and he couldn’t do it.”

Ginobili has been suffering back spasms for the past few days.

He was not on the court against the Washington Wizards on Friday night. He also missed practice Sunday and today.

The Spurs hope to have him back for the home opener on Thursday.

Won't be the last time we see this headline this year...Hate to say it but our team is old and way past it's prime. We will be lucky to make it into the playoffs this year; heart will only get you so far before you run out of gas like last year.
