SAN ANTONIO - The Spurs are being sued! Turns out that $250,000 fine from NBA Commissioner David Stern was only the beginning for what fans have been calling ‘RestGate.’ This after Spurs Coach Gregg Popovich famously sent Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili home instead of accompanying the team to play the Miami Heat.
ESPN.com is reporting that Heat fan Larry McGuinness filed a class action law suit Monday, claiming that Coach Pop intentionally and surreptitiously sent the Spurs best players home without the knowledge of the NBA, the Heat or their fans. He claims fans suffered economic damages as they paid premium prices for a ticket that should not have cost more than regular tickets.
The Spurs said they have no comment.
