SAN ANTONIO -- Michael Finley has informed the Spurs that he will return for the 2009-2010 season. Finley had a player option in his contract and will return for 2.5. million dollars.
The 6-7 guard played in 81 regular season games last year and averaged 9.7 points per game. He shot a career high 41% from beyond the three point arc.
Finley's playing time may diminish depending on the health of Manu Ginobili, the addition of Richard Jefferson and the increasing role that is expected to come for George Hill and Roger Mason.
Free agency begins tonight at 11:00pm CST. The Spurs are expected to make a run at a power forward. That list includes Rasheed Wallace and Antonio McDyess.
