By Kyle Boenitz, Project Spurs.comWhen Tim Duncan signed his contract extension with the San Antonio Spurs over the summer, everyone knew he would take whatever money the team offered him. He has played his whole career in San Antonio, wants to stay a Spur, wants to retire a Spur.
Duncan signed on for three more years with the team, with an option for the final year, but it might
not have been worth as much as we originally thought.
“Tim Duncan’s new three-year deal with the Spurs isn’t for $36 million, as was first widely reported. According to numbers provided by the NBA Players Association, he will earn $30 million, with the third year, at $10 million, at the future Hall of Famer’s option.”
The final number probably didn’t make that much of a difference to a guy who has already made millions and millions of dollars over his long and successful NBA career.
