By Kyle Boenitz, Project Spurs.comThe San Antonio Spurs are sitting at 6-1, good enough for the second best record (percentage-wise) in the NBA. Once again, they’re shaking off all the haters who said they were too old, couldn’t compete with the Thunder or the Lakers and that their dynasty was finally headed down to the basement.
It’s definitely too early to start handing out championship rings, but the Spurs have to be encouraged by their strong performance out of the gate. Matt Bonner was definitely
excited to steal the home opener from the Thunder on Tony Parker’s buzzer beater, and he’s enjoying all the action around the league.
“It's been a very exciting first week of the NBA,” Bonner said. “There are so many story lines right now. The Lakers are off to a slow start and Steve Nash is out for about a month. You look at the Knicks and how well they've played. You've got Brooklyn (Nets) back on the scene. Tony Parker has been making big play after big play for us. It's been exciting.”
Bonner also had a few things to say about team chemistry and why teams like the Lakers and Celtics haven’t seemed to find theirs yet.
