The San Antonio Spurs drafted Pitt All-America DeJuan Blair with the 37th pick in the NBA draft. Blair averaged 15.7 points and 12.3 rebounds for Pitt and was the Big East co-player of the year with Connecticut's Hasheem Thabeet, who was drafted No. 2 overall by Memphis.
Blair was likely more than the Spurs thought they'd be getting in the second round Thursday night. The 6-7 forward may be able to immediately help the Spurs in the frontcourt after they gave up Fabricio Oberto and Kurt Thomas in a deal to acquire Richard Jefferson from Milwaukee.
The Spurs also picked up senior Miami guard Jack McClinton with the 51st pick. McClinton averaged 19.3 ppg and is a two-time All-ACC First Team selection.
With their final pick the Spurs selected a 22-year-old point guard out of France. Nando De Colo was the 2008 MVP of the French Pro All-Star game. De Colo is considered to be a true point guard.
