SAN ANTONIO - Eddie Moreno is a former Alamo Heights basketball player that was senselessly shot a year ago. We caught up with him to share his inspirational story. Click here to watch...

It was a senseless act of violence that devastated a community, a high school, and a family. Moreno was shot in the face in a road rage incident, paralyzing him from the neck down.

As backup point guard, Moreno helped lead the Alamo Heights Mules to the regional quarter finals.

"He's the guy that walks in every day with a smile on his face," explained Coach Boggess.  "He has an attitude like, 'hey coach, teach me something,' and 'let's play ball.'"

And Moreno was destined to share that spirit with others.  Boggess tells us Moreno planned on becoming a coach someday.

But Moreno's dream was shattered in a shooting near Loop 410 and Airport Boulevard. Officials say the bullet went through Moreno's jaw, severing his spinal cord.
