SAN ANTONIO -- Two heavyweights faced off Thursday night at Rutledge stadium in Converse. Judson taking on Churchill in a battle between two of the most tradition rich programs in San Antonio.

Rocket running back Jarveon Williams was unstoppable, and Judson blasts off to their first win of the season, defeating Churchill 45 to 24. Williams finished up rushing for 302 yards, 5 touchdown, including a 73 run in the 3rd. Jarveon’s performance has earned him a spot on News 4 WOAI plays of the week.

Over at Mata Stadium, Memorial taking on Lytle. The minute-men got on the board first, thanks to Alfred Ramos converting a 3 down and 35 (News 4 WOAI play of the week?). Later in the drive, Ramos hands off to Raul Rangel for the easy 5 yard touchdown (7-0 Memorial). But the Pirates come charging back on their next drive, Joseph Santos calls his own number on the goal line to tie it up at 7. Then following a Memorial turnover, Santos hits Richard Ramirez for the 25 yard TD. Lytle continues to pile it on, and goes onto win 54 to 23.

On the south side, Pleasanton vs Lanier. Pleasanton fans had plenty to cheer about in this one. Two quick touchdowns in the first quarter, then their defense gets in on the action, Mike Sorola with the interception. Sorola returns it 40 yards for the touchdown (21-0 Pleasanton). This game was called in the third because of lighting. Pleasanton wins 42 to 7.

Finally, congrats to Holme’s Brandon Banda. He’s the winner of our Friday Night Fever play of the week. His great catch got nearly 60% of the vote. David Robinson’s kid Corey was second with over 16%.
