Kiolbassa and News 4 WOAI kick-off the high school football season with tailgating parties.

The best part of “2-a-day” workouts and OTA practice sessions is that they herald the kickoff of high school football season. Additionally, it represents the 8th season of the Kiolbassa Friday Night Fever Tailgates with News 4 WOAI’s David Chancellor.

The popular traveling tailgate events begin Friday, August 28, and run for 12 consecutive weeks with Kiolbassa hosting tailgate parties at area high schools and stadiums during the News 4 WOAI sports broadcasts on Friday evenings.

“David Chancellor and representatives from Kiolbassa will be tailgating at different high school football games throughout the season recognizing the accomplishment of student athletes in San Antonio and New Braunfels,” says Kiolbassa President Michael Kiolbassa.

San Antonio-based Kiolbassa Provision Co. is celebrating 60 years of making premium smoked sausage, and was recently recognized by the State Historical Commission as a Texas Treasure Business Award recipient. Kiolbassa’s Friday Night Fever tailgating tradition will be showcased in a vignette entitled “Tailgating Goodies” on an upcoming Food Network episode of “Unwrapped” later this season.

Area high schools interested in a Kiolbassa Friday Night Fever tailgate sendoff should email DavidChancellor@woaitv.com.
