SAN ANTONIO - There are new details surrounding a bomb scare at Blossom Athletic Center that forced the evacuation of an estimated 4,000 people Saturday night.
There was a football game going on between MacArthur and Johnson High School. A homecoming dance for Churchill High School was also taking place inside the gym. According to police, a 911 call was made shortly after 8pm. Police said the caller who sounded like a young man said there were two bombs; one of them underneath the bleachers, and the other one inside the gym.
“It was an absolute nightmare,” said Brad Beldon, one of the dance chaperones. “You had police coming in. You had limos coming in. You had parents trying to get in because it was on Twitter within minutes.”
In the end, police did not find any bombs, but continue to investigate who made the call. The game resumed Monday night at seven o’clock. There are also plans to reschedule the dance.
