SAN ANTONIO -- The San Antonio Humane Society wants you to join them for a birthday bash!

The SA Humane Society is holding a birthday bash to celebrate their 10-year anniversary of serving the community. The event will take place on November 10th from 12-1pm at 4804 Fredericksburg Rd.

In addition to celebrating their beautiful building, they are also proud to announce another special anniversary, 60 years of caring and sheltering the stray dogs and cats of San Antonio.

The SA Humane Society will be celebrating with cake for their human friends and treats for their four-legged friends.

SAHS is also holding a painting contest of artists’ interpretation of the San Antonio Humane Society building’s architecture. The contest will consist of 3 age categories: 9 and under, 10-16 and 16 and older. A first prize winner will be announced for each age group during our birthday bash. They ask that all submissions for the painting contest be submitted to the San Antonio Humane Society by November 7, 2012 at 7pm.

In addition to all of the festivities, there will be a special adoption event that will reduce the adoption rates to only $16 for most pets 6 months and older. For more information, CLICK HERE.

One of the things I've noticed over the past several years as our society has significantly "dumbed down" (which may explain the overwhelming support for Obama) is a low class way of speaking the English language. Like "me and him" are going instead of "he and I" are going. Another example is journalists who cannot spell. The headline of this article says "Your Invited" instead of "You're Invited." It's sad that we're being overtaken by a bunch of illiterates who have no pride and no clue.

WOAI, you need to correct your headline. It should be "you're", not "your". Sheesh!

FreeHole, your heart may be in the right place, but your handle on reality is lacking! We have groups to protect abused children, but they don't work because they're part of the government bureaucracy, which you just voted to expand. Good job! You want to help your cause, don't just talk about it on here, get out and do something yourself. And, government subsidizing of baby making machines is a good start to get rid of. Baaaaaaaaaa Baaaaaaaaaa

I don't understand the name chosen by this organization. It's called the HUMANE society but they are mostly DOG lovers. They put a lot of effort and resources to make suffer any HUMAN that mistreats animals. Why don't we have a similar society to protect abused American children? I mean the abuse is obvious for what we see in the news, and that's just a fraction of the real numbers, but the government seems unable to protect them effectively. Wouldn't be nice to have a PUPPY SOCIETY to watch for our children protection? Wouldn't be nice that the HUMANE society fighted VICIOUSLY, DOGGEDLY to protect our kids?
