SAN ANTONIO -- Your kids can enjoy this fall with the pets at the San Antonio Humane Society.

The San Antonio Humane Society "Camp Humane" has two camps available.

  • A 3-day Service Camp ($75 per camper) on November 19-21st for 12-15 year olds who want or need to do community service hours without their parents present

AND

  • A 1-day Camp ($40 per camper) for 7-11 year old animal lovers on “Black Friday,” (November 23rd).

Both camps include daily snacks, drinks and crafts. Campers will need to bring a sack lunch each day.

Camp hours are from 9 am to 3 pm.

During a typical day, campers will learn about exotic, wild, and domestic animals. This will be done through hands on time with animals, presentations, games and crafts related to humane treatment of animals. If you know a kid who loves animals, then tell them about Camp Humane – the camp that teaches kids all about animals!

Camper registration and health forms are to be filled out and submitted online or dropped off at the San Antonio Humane Society along with payment.

Personally I would rather help animals than humans. Animals don't lie or steal. Nor are they conniving or deceitful the way some humans can be.

this is a good example of why our kids need to go to events like this and learn some humanity: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/11/09/us-postal-service-defends-mailman-who-stepped-around-dead-man/?test=latestnews

Seriously! NO, it's NOT all about the animals. It's about teaching kids responsibility, and learning to love and give. Animals don't judge and are the perfect canvas to begin the painting with. These kids just might grow up to be the kind that takes care of their animals and don't turn them out to be a scourge or heartbreak for society, and will expand their kindness to humans truly in need. That's what the animals will teach them and us. Besides, most serial killers and other horrific criminals begin as animal abusers. These kids will not fall into that category, now will they? There is far more stupidity and cruelty in the human race than in the rest of the animal kingdom.
