SAN ANTONIO -- In times of disaster, many families are left without a way to get around. However, a new partnership between the American Red Cross - San Antonio Area Chapter and Yellow Cab could change all that for local residents.

Starting today, Yellow Cab will give free rides to clients of the American Red Cross who have been displaced because of house fires, floods and natural disasters. When the Red Cross determines an individual or client is in need of transportation, they will call Yellow Cab and request a taxi. Yellow Cab will then dispatch a taxi that will take the clients to a Red Cross facility or designated hotel for temporary housing.

Both organizations say this is an important partnership, since up to 15% of residents last year did not have access to a vehicle after a disaster.
