SAN ANTONIO – The Institute of Texan Cultures is looking for volunteers to be a part of the Texas Folklife Festival.
Volunteers are needed June 8th through the 10th at the festival grounds.
The Texas Folklife Festival is the biggest cultural celebration in Texas. The event is held on the grounds of the Institute of Texan Cultures on the UTSA HemisFair Park Campus and showcases the Lone Star State's diversity and rich heritage through a wide variety of ethnic food, music, dance, arts and crafts.
The 2012 festival dates and times are:
- Friday, June 8: 5-11 p.m.
- Saturday, June 9: 11 a.m.-11p.m.
- Sunday, June 10: noon-7 p.m.
Festival volunteers receive a wristband valid for free admission each day to the festival. Also, they receive parking passes and free shuttle service to and from the festival grounds. Additionally, volunteers may purchase the volunteer t-shirt at a discount.
Festival volunteers are required to attend an orientation session, 6 p.m., either May 16 or May 23, at the Institute of Texan Cultures, 801 East Cesar E. Chavez Blvd., San Antonio TX 78205. Parking for orientation is available in the ITC employee lot in the back of the building (entrance on the corner of Tower of the Americas Way and Chavez Boulevard). Door prize drawings will be held.
Orientation will cover the volunteer handbook, procedures and job descriptions. Festival officers will be present to answer any questions.
