I've met many a homeless person downtown and after talking a while they all have the same story. It must be handed out in a pamphlet or something. Mental illness does not refrain you from doing the most basic of jobs. I mean, there's people with worse mental illness who are CEO's..zing! If you are homeless it's because you decided that was going to be the life for you ---and your children. This is America. You start with $5 in your pocket and build an empire. You shave your face, wipe the crud from your armpits, put on a clean shirt and go sell yourself at McDonalds. SA NATIVE, of course society is going to punish you if you don't pay. If you were on the other end and you were trying to support your family would you want a borrowing slacker asking "One more day suh, I promise I get's you the money".....No you wouldn't. I'm broke at the end of every month, but I take care of my business before I go have (lack of) fun on what's left. Most all of us are one check away from homeless, but if our backs are against the wall we wouldn't hardly roll over and accept that it's our fate. I think that most homeless get stuck in a rut of dependance. They are not fighters of their situation. A good number of homeless 40oz. all day, sleep, pee on the sidewalk. If street corner begging is your job then that's something. However I'd like to get some sort of return on my investment...Anyways, here's what to understand about homelessness in SA---the enablers are purpetuating their situation.

About 1/3 of homeless men are veterans. Some veterans lack education, have difficulty transferring combat skills to civilian life, or return with physical or mental disabilities. But let's blame them for being lazy.

How about those without sin cast the first stone. Evaluate yourselves before you speak. If you think it is easy being broke, it isn't. Society now a days tend to punish you if you are unable to pay. $25.00 for an overdraft with a debit card. Interest rates in the 30% plus percent. Payday or Car Title loan at 365% with interest due every thirty days. Everybody loves fees for you not complying. Takes food out of your family's mouth because you tried to do the right thing but get kicked in the teeth because you are one day late. Sit in your chair and pray to God that one day, you are not homeless and broke. Good Day!
