SAN ANTONIO – After last week’s cold snap, UTSA is making sure kids are able to bundle up this winter.

Employees are collecting coats, blankets and hoodies at the downtown campus to give to foster children.

They’re asking families to go through their closets and pick out some items the kids might have grown out of, but could still get a second life in the arms of a foster child.

"These foster youth often are bounced around to different homes,” Laura Covarrubias with UTSA says. “They may not have money. They may not have anybody looking out for them."

Families can call UTSA’s Child and Adolescent Policy Research Institute at (210) 458-3116 to learn more about the program.

Donated items can be dropped off at the Monterey Building Room 2.2360 located at 301 S. Frio Street.

They can also be mailed to 501 Cesar Chavez Blvd, Monterey Building 2.260, San Antonio, TX 78207.
