SAN ANTONIO -- Two more cases of the West Nile virus have been confirmed in San Antonio.

There are now 13 cases of the virus here. In two of those cases, the victims died.

Most people infected with West Nile virus will not have any signs of illness. Only about 1 out of 150 people infected with the virus will develop the more severe form of the disease. People older than 50 have the highest risk of having the more severe form.

The incubation period of West Nile virus in humans is three to 14 days.

At least 48 dead from West Nile in Texas

GAINESVILLE, Texas (AP) — A third death from West Nile virus has been reported from a Texas Red River county.

Cooke County has reported the West Nile death of a 76-year-old man who lived in the southwestern part of Gainesville. Cooke County Emergency Manager Ray Fletcher tells KXII-TV (http://bit.ly/QfWevW) of Ardmore, Okla., and Sherman, Texas, that he was the first county resident to die of the mosquito-borne virus.

West Nile deaths also have been reported from two other Red River counties in Texas. One each has been confirmed in Montague (mahn-TAYG') and Lamar counties.

That brings the 2011 West Nile death toll statewide to at least 48. This is the worst year ever for West Nile in Texas, which has about half of the nation's deaths from the illness.

Can we sue the city for not fogging and taking steps to prevent it if we get west Nile?the city seems to prefer paying bonuses to there head honchos instead of fogging for this deadly outbreak, in my opinion.

Humm...13 cases here in San Antonio? When are they going to start fogging for these insects? The government has recalled products on less cases. Come on San Antonio...how many more are going to get ill or die before you wake up?
