AUSTIN -- Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott is asking for the public's help with tracking down the "Top Ten Most Wanted Child Support Evaders" in Texas.

The Attorney General's Child Support Division released the list Thursday. Combined, the parents on the list owe more than $1 million in unpaid child support.

"Parents have a moral and legal obligation to support their children," explained Attorney General Abbott. "Those who ignore their court-ordered child support obligations must be held accountable for violating the law. We urge Texans to help us locate parents who are wanted by authorities for failing to pay their child support."

Parents on the list were selected because they have the ability to take responsibility for their children but refuse to do so. If you have any information on the whereabouts of any of these child support evaders, please immediately call the toll free number 1-866-EVADERS (382-3377).

The misconception of many people who think that women have kids just to use wic, food-stamps, medicaid, and child-support is that of ignorance. There are some who abuse the system and take advantage of these programs but they are a very small minority. There are even some who have children for the sole purpose of government fraud and child support but they are extremely rare. The most common thing you will find while researching and debating this subject is the "honest taxpayer who knows a butt-load of welfare moms in his/her neighborhood and their parent's neighborhood as well". Get a life people and volunteer at your local food bank, woman's shelter, etc. You will see what you don't know.

Hey rangermike that is the most ignorant comment on here. I am a mother of an african american child (as you so nicely put it) and I am not on welfare, lonestar, and her father takes good care of her. Oh and I dont know of any drug dealers where I live. But I am pretty sure there are some seeing as I live on the Northside and people with money buy the more expensive drugs. Just thought that I might teach you something. Oh and I am pretty sure there are people of all races on welfare, lonestar, dont take care of their kids and know drug dealers.

Gran Torino- sounds like you have a warped view on single mothers. Not all single mothers are results of one night stands. There are plenty of single mothers out there that were married to the father of there kids.

Grand Torino: Whether yiu like it oe not, it's the law; or do you only obey the laws that you like? A man should support his children And if he fails to do so, then the state steps in. It's a true cowardly S.O.B. who will fail to provide for his children. Did I touch a nerve?

Child support enforcement is such a joke in Texas. If you make a child, then you support it, because I sure as hell dont want to. The fact that the Atty Generals office allows these losers to get this far behind is a testament to what a joke enforcement in this state is. They make it easier on the deadbeat dads to live than they do the parent who is actually trying to raise the kid....
