SAN ANTONIO- An elderly woman who escaped a house fire on Friday was back at her home Saturday evening trying to salvage what she can. Seventy- two year-old Willie Lee Hilliard said even though she has lost a lot, she is still counting her blessings.
Hilliard said those blessings came in the form of two teenage age boys who helped rescue her from the fire on the 1800 block of Gorman Street on the East side.
“That smoke just pushed me back and that young man said come on please, please, come on,” explained Hilliard.
The elderly woman was working in her back yard when the boys saw smoke from across the street. They alerted her to the fire and kept her from trying to go back inside.
Tayvion Hernandez who saved the lady said, “She had come over here and was like thank you for saving me, saving my dog”.
“I say God is good though, he's going to look after me,” exclaimed Hilliard.
With all the blessings that Willie Lee is thankful for, her family said she could certainly use any assistance out there as she tries to rebuild her life again. For more information on assisting Willie Lee Hilliard call (210) 683- 2946.
