SAN ANTONIO -- Local children will have a brighter Christmas this year, thanks to San Antonio Police officers and Target. Today, the retail giant donated $2,000 to the police department's "Shop With A Cop" program. The program pairs a child with an officer for a shopping trip at Target. The donated money will be divided into $25 gift cards for each child to buy a present.

"It's a great way to build trust in the community with these kids and their families, especially around Christmas time and the holidays," said Chief William McManus of the San Antonio Police Department.

Target gave away the check during the grand opening of their newest superstore off Austin Highway.

Don't kick a gift horse in the mouth!!! That's 80 kids at $25.00 a head, which isn't too shabby a gift. Bet they contribute in lots of other ways, too, possibly spread out throughout the year.
