CANTON TOWNSHIP, MI -- Pet owners are keeping a close eye on their pups after someone intentionally placed tainted dog treats at a park. Police say the treats contained needles, pins and staples in them.
"Anybody reasonable would agree this is terrible behavior," said Detective Sergeant Dave Schreiner, with the Canton Police Department. "It's terrible to do this to animals wild or domestic."
The treats have caused several dogs to get sick, including two that have needed surgery. The treats have shown up in the park at least a dozen times. So far, officers have not determined a suspect in the case, but are considering installing security cameras in the area to catch the person or persons responsible.
