SAN ANTONIO -- The key to fewer PMS symptoms could be something you can buy over the counter. A new study finds women who took at least 30 milligrams of iron every day were 30% to 40% less likely to be diagnosed with premenstrual syndrome.
The maximum recommended dosage is 45 milligrams. Researchers also saw a similar link with women taking more zinc. One unexpected result was that women who had higher levels of potassium appeared to raise their risk of PMS.
