for those of you that know everything, could've been a variety of different variables....one is having a weapon that has no safety, i.e. Glock and some sigs!!! if you own a Glock ensure if you chamber a round, be extra careful!! cause this could happen.... i not only carried one for twenty years but still do...also got trained by ad-je-shee on Dietrich when he was at Nardis!! hope that guard is ok

Way to go Barney Fife! Now Sheriff Taylor is going to take away your one bullet. Should have kept that slug in your shirt pocket where it belongs.

Those Security Officer's not familiar with Texas Occupations Code 1702.169 should read it before disarming at the local convenience store or elsewhere. The law changed in Sept. 2007. To the security officer that like's to play with his handgun while commuting you are just plain ignorant, not to mention you could be charged with brandishing a weapon and unlawful discharge within the city limit's. I don't know if retraining will help you, but try to attend a quality school next time like the one on Dietrich road.

Excuse me..."Was removing his weapon while waiting for the light to change to put it in the glove compartment." Unless the laws and rules have changed when I worked as an Armed Security Officer and was the Ops Manager for one, you either stored your weapon BEFORE you entered your car or you left it alone until such time as you could SAFELY remove it. I can recall the few times when I had left it holstered and then decided I wanted a Coke..I pull up, open my trunk and place it in the truck..and there it would remain until I either got home or my work site. Sorry but I think he was showing off or doing something he wasn't suppose to..I do hope he recovers fully but if I were on the Security Board in Austin I'd be pulling his certification and giving him an Unarmed license..and make him retake the classes again..
